Bass
Matthew Phillips has played bass guitar for over 14 years, since age
13. During that time he has pursued his love for music into the academic
world, earning a BA in Music, and Music Technology from the University
of Alabama at Birmingham, on June 5, 2000. After picking up an eclectic
range of influences, (ranging from Jazz instruction by Count Basie Bassist
Cleveland Eaton, to formal education in Music Theory and Harmonic Progression
from Dr. Michael Angell) Phillips re-entered the popular music scene.
He has since played in all genres, ranging from Jazz, Funk, and R &
B, to Classic, Modern and Progessive Rock and Roll. He has provided
Bass for Russ Spillis, Full Moon Blanket, Last Child, Talon, Vicious
Circle, Socket, and is the principal studio Bassist for Echomachine
Records, based in Birmingham. Phillips lives in Birmingham Al. U.S.
